Labor Day marks the Halfway Point of 1st Six Weeks

New Waverly ISD is headed into the holiday weekend with a successful start to the new school year and progress reports will be going home with students next week.

Fresh off their home win last week, New Waverly Football will take on Teague Friday night at Bulldog Stadium and our Volleyball Team will be hosting Richards beginning at 4:30 PM. The evening will also feature a tailgate party at 7 Bar Station to support our seniors and come together as a community.

Kickoff will take place at 7:30 pm and the District is asking for the community’s support in keeping our children safe. Parents are encouraged to supervise their children and stay with them during the game for their safety.

After the game, First Baptist Church New Waverly is again hosting a “5th Quarter” event for grades 7-12, beginning at 10pm and ending at Midnight.

This is the second straight week for both the Tailgate Party and 5th Quarter events with the goal of supporting our students and community.

Health and Safety Concerns

In this week’s letter to the community, Dr. Hail addressed a concern that should be on everyone’s mind. In his letter he wrote, “One of the more concerning things that is occurring in Texas right now, has been an increase in fentanyl related deaths. While we have had no reported problems in our district, we want to encourage you to engage in conversations with your child about the risks and dangers involved.”

Dr. Hail went on to say that there is no more powerful influence than parents and guardians of our kids and its important that we all watch out for their safety. For the full text of his letter click on this link.
