A Successful Fall Semester for NWISD

Construction moving forward as the first semester under a 4 day school schedule wraps up Thursday.

Progress is evident at both the High School and the Elementary campuses as construction moves along on the bond projects approved by voters in New Waverly ISD. Superintendent Dr. Darol Hail reports that the work at both the High School and the Elementary is on schedule and the new Intermediate school is quickly starting to take shape next to the Elementary. Barring any unforeseen delays, the additional classrooms and lunchroom space at the high school and elementary classrooms should be ready for the start of the 2024 fall semester. The Intermediate School should also be nearing completion around the start of the school year and Dr. Hail expects that all of the major projects will be completed next Fall.

First full semester under 4 day school week

Dr. Hail tells us that feedback from the community has been positive and the district is already looking forward to the spring semester. Attendance improved during the first six weeks and the number of students failing decreased, but attendance during the second six weeks was affected by the start of the flu season and absences increased.

The District is hoping to publish the 2024-2025 early next year and will be remaining on the 4 day school schedule.
